Adrian Michigan Social Security Eligibility Attorney

Lawyers Fighting for Your Rights to Social Security Benefits

Are you uncertain if you qualify for Social Security disability benefits?

If you are unclear about your Social Security eligibility, you need the guidance and legal leadership of an experienced Social Security law firm. At Babut Law Offices, PLLC, we have helped people get financial help since 1991.

Many individuals have their initial claims before the Social Security Administration (SSA) denied. A denial does not mean that you are not eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or social security income. Oftentimes, applications are turned down because the SSA does not believe you have shown enough evidence of a disability.

Our Team of Michigan Social Security Attorneys Is On Your Side

More than 15 years as a law firm has taught us a lot about the many guidelines and requirements for Social Security disability claims. Our Social Security attorneys can organize and present clear-cut evidence of your legitimate disability and explain clearly why you are physically prevented from working. Throughout the entire process, you will receive the most compassionate and personalized client commitment we can offer.

If you have questions about your own Social Security eligibility, or that of a disabled friend or loved one, contact us. You can benefit from our attorneys' intimate knowledge of Social Security requirements, rules and regulations.

Your Eligibility for Social Security

Your Social Security eligibility requirements depend on your age at the time of your disability. Typically, you need forty work credits, with twenty of those credits earned in the ten years prior to your disabling injury. This usually boils down to five years of recent work experience.

In order to qualify as "disabled" and be in a position to receive disability benefits, you must have worked in jobs covered by Social Security, have a medical condition that meets the SSA's definition of disability, and have a disability that is expected to last for at least one year or result in death.

SSA Five-Step Process for Determining Disability

The SSA's five-step process for determination of disability asks these questions:

  • Are you currently employed?
  • How severe is the injury you suffered?
  • Does the injury meet or exceed a listing-level impairment?
  • Can you do the same work you did before your injury?
  • Can you perform any other type of work?

People who don’t qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) often qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). We invite you to be in touch with us, to discuss any of these Social Security eligibility legal issues, or how we can help you with your claim. At Babut Law Offices, PLLC, we help people who need help.
